Reflections

This month in professional writing I worked on my profile, audience evaluation and complain letters/responses to learn how to professionally present myself and be concise. These skills are most useful because each assignment taught me how to write effectively and professionally in a format, communicate and provide concise details for readers to understand my goals and key terms such as "Digital Audio Interface". I plan to use these same skills such as professionally creating a profile or researching a engineer/artist for a collaboration letter. In addition, I will use these skills to help plan my goals and build my professional reputation towards my audience or researching professionals to understand who i'm networking with and occupation.

The assignment that challenged me the most this term was the professional research due to time constraint because I had less time to research though interviews and had trouble with the correct formatting. This became a challenge because I was rushing and cramming together various facts from too many sites, which I didn't take enough time to keep track and cite my quotes.

One area I do feel is my greatest writing weakness is being specific in details, which is what my professor has informed me in my complaint letter response assignment. To strengthen this area, I will make sure I explain specifically what is important. For example, using detail such as addressing client that I will solve their issue with a refund and a complimentary discount on their next purchase.

I learned that tone plays a big part when constructing a letter because it is more appropriate towards my audience and purpose. Also, being concise is also important and will help your audience understand the context give them more insight. For example, in my professional research assignment, I learned a new way of thinking by being more direct and less repetitive when I discuss important information.
